Grant Resources
Resources for Grants
There are several granting agencies that provide grants specifically for community pharmacists, students, and residents. These grants may be used as seed money to start up a new pharmaceutical care service, which will offset many of the costs associated with starting a new service (printing costs, advertising costs, training for pharmacy staff, buying equipment, etc). The money is there, so apply for it!
Granting Agencies
The APhA Foundation offers $1,000.00 incentive grants on a yearly basis to pharmacists in the community setting. These grants are fairly easy to apply for, and they have enough money to offer grants to 20 applicants yearly. Any community pharmacist, preceptor, or community pharmacy resident may apply for the grant money. The Foundation prefers projects that are innovative, so try to think of a project that has not been done before. See the APhA Foundation website (link above) for more information on projects funded in the past or to download an application form. The deadline for grant applications this year is October 16th, 2006 (applications must be postmarked by this date).
The Community Pharmacy Foundation offers grants of differing amounts to any community pharmacist starting a new pharmaceutical care service. There is an online grant application form on their website which must be submitted online. The Foundation reviews applications quarterly.
The NCPA Foundation provides several research grants yearly to support research in the community pharmacy setting. Typical grant amounts vary from $7,500 to $15,000. See the NCPA website for project titles that were funded in the past.
The Institute for the Advancement of Community Pharmacy offers grants to community pharmacists on a yearly basis.
